Move Overstock Without Putting the Brand on Sale

This one is for brands with goods that will not sell at list. Overstock is a Buyr use case. Shoppers can ask the offer agent to help them find a price.

You made the units so you would not stock out. A color sat. A size did not move. The product is still good. The sticker is what is stuck.

A public sale moves some of it and trains people to wait. An off-price channel can recover cash and still cheapen the brand. A write-off protects the logo and burns the unit.

Buyr is the path that keeps the product on a storefront that looks like the brand. A shopper names a price on the overstocked good. An offer agent helps them find a number your rules can accept. If it clears, they buy. Your list price does not have to become a sale.

How the offer agent fits overstock

The offer agent sits on the product with the shopper. It helps them find a price. If a number would unlock now, it can point at that guaranteed price. They still choose the number. The agent does not invent a secret sticker from who they are.

You set the floor and the auto-accept line.

  • If the price clears now, they check out and pay that price.
  • If it is allowed but not an instant yes, they can submit. A pending offer is not charged until it is accepted.
  • A price under the floor does not go through.

That is how overstock moves without a red tag. The shopper who would have walked can still buy. The shopper who would have paid list is not handed the same public markdown.

Where the units stay

On buyr.com, shoppers set a price on branded products from authorized merchants. On your own Shopify store, the Buyr app puts Set Your Price and the offer agent on the product page. The unit stays a product you sell. It does not get boxed into a lot and sent to a jobber.

We do not buy your excess and resell it. We do not promise every unit clears. We do give overstocked goods a price a shopper can name, inside a floor you would accept.

Matrix Keyboards' CEO put a related result this way on the Shopify App Store: customers name their price, and the store captures revenue from shoppers who would not have bought at full price, without slashing prices in a way that makes the brand look bad.

What it costs

The shorter merchant version is an offer agent for demand you are leaving on the table. The investor version is the AI use case for overstocked goods.

Questions brands ask

Is overstock really a fit?

Yes. Goods that will not sell at list, including overstock, are a reason to turn this on. A shopper names a price. The unit moves when it clears your floor.

Where is the AI?

The offer agent helps the shopper find that price. It can point at a number that unlocks now. You still set the floor. The agent does not change your public price based on who is looking.

Will this empty the warehouse?

No promise of that. It is a way to sell overstocked goods to shoppers without a public sale. Units move when the price clears. It is not a liquidation program that buys the lot.
