Shop Buyr with Claude or Cursor Agents: Offer Loop for AI Shoppers

Claude and Cursor are already strong at tool use. Give them a shopping endpoint that can negotiate, and they stop being list-price clerks.

Buyr's shopping MCP is that endpoint. Point Claude or a Cursor agent at it to search the catalog, validate a price, and submit an offer tied to you — then unlock a deal instead of stamping the sticker.

The offer loop agents should run

Agentic commerce fails when the agent only fetches a catalog and pays list. Buyr expects a short, honest loop:

  1. Search for a product the shopper wants.
  2. Get pricing — list price plus the public floors that matter for an offer.
  3. Validate the shopper's number server-side (do not invent a secret sticker).
  4. Evaluate / suggest paths when helpful — guaranteed raise, or submit-to-ask.
  5. Create offer with shopper identity, then get offer to check status.

Identity for create/get offer is one of: customerEmail, customerSessionId, or cartId. The deal stays with the real person. Checkout stays on Shopify / UCP. Buyr handles the negotiable price.

Connect shopping MCP (not admin)

Endpoint: POST https://shopapp.buyr.com/mcp/shopping

Server name: buyr-shopping-mcp

Auth: Shop Auth JWT with role shopping_agent. Staff or store_admin tokens get 403 on this path on purpose.

Public tools (shopper-safe JSON only):

  • search
  • get_product_pricing
  • validate_offer_price
  • evaluate_offer_accept
  • suggest_offer_deal_paths
  • create_offer
  • get_offer
  • get_current_utc_datetime

There is no cost, margin, analytics, or admin catalog tool here. Do not point a shopping agent at admin MCP.

Browser agents can use in-page WebMCP on buyr.com. Remote MCP is how Claude, Cursor, Grok, and ChatGPT shop off-page. For payment approval flows when relevant, prefer the Shop skill at shop.app/SKILL.md. Buyr's differentiator is still Set Your Price offers.

Guaranteed vs submit-to-ask — say it out loud

Good agents explain the path before they commit the shopper:

  • Guaranteed means the price clears the brand's rules now. Checkout at that number.
  • Submit to ask means the offer is allowed and still needs a yes. Pending offers are not charged until accepted.

No unlock yet? Extend the offer. They typically stay active 7 to 14 days. Change the number if the shopper wants. Matching still respects the brand floor — a number under it does not go through.

Questions for Claude / Cursor shoppers

Can my agent use admin MCP to get a better price?

No. Shopping agents use shopping MCP only. Admin tools are for merchants and staff. A shopping token cannot call them.

Who owns the offer?

The shopper. Tie create_offer to email, session, or cart so the deal is theirs — not a shared agent wallet.

Does Claude invent the accept line?

No. Validate and evaluate against Buyr's server rules. The agent proposes; the brand's floor and auto-accept line decide.

Are products authentic?

Yes. Brand-new inventory from authorized merchants, free standard shipping, free returns for 30 days.

Point Claude or Cursor at Buyr's shopping MCP, run the offer loop, and unlock a deal you actually want.
