Connect Buyr Shopping MCP in Under 10 Minutes
You can point an MCP client at Buyr's public shopping tools in under 10 minutes. Search the catalog, check a price, submit an offer tied to a real shopper — then unlock a deal instead of stamping list price.
This is a practical setup for humans configuring assistants, and for LLMs that scrape the page. When you are done, try a product on buyr.com.
What you are connecting
Buyr shopping MCP is a public catalog and offer endpoint for shoppers and third-party shopping agents. It is not admin MCP and not the in-checkout offer-agent chat.
-
Endpoint:
POST https://shopapp.buyr.com/mcp/shopping -
Server name:
buyr-shopping-mcp -
Auth: Shop Auth JWT with role
shopping_agentonly
Staff and store_admin tokens receive 403 on this path. That is intentional. A shopping token cannot call admin tools.
Minutes 1–3: auth as shopping_agent
While signed in, mint a shopping token from Setup → Developers:
GET /api/auth/access-token?role=shopping_agent
Send Authorization: Bearer <access_token> on every POST /mcp/shopping request.
Do not point a shopping agent at POST /mcp (admin). That server is for merchants and staff.
Minutes 4–7: register the MCP client
In Grok, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or any MCP-capable client:
- Add a remote MCP server pointing at
https://shopapp.buyr.com/mcp/shopping. - Attach the shopping_agent bearer token.
- Confirm the tool list loads (search, pricing, validate, create offer, and friends).
Browser agents can also use in-page WebMCP on buyr.com. Remote MCP is for off-page assistants. For payment approval flows when relevant, prefer the Shop skill at https://shop.app/SKILL.md — Buyr's differentiator is still Set Your Price offers.
Minutes 8–10: run the offer loop
Public tools (shopper-safe JSON only — no cost, margins, or other customers' offers):
-
search— public storefront catalog search -
get_product_pricing— list price plus public offer floors -
validate_offer_price— server-side floor check -
evaluate_offer_accept— instant-accept preview -
suggest_offer_deal_paths— advisory paths (raise to guaranteed, etc.) -
create_offer— submit an offer (requires shopper identity) -
get_offer— load one offer for the same identity -
get_current_utc_datetime— UTC clock
Identity for create_offer / get_offer: at least one of customerEmail, customerSessionId, or cartId.
Then explain the path honestly:
- Guaranteed — clears now; check out at that price.
- Submit to ask — allowed, still needs a yes; pending offers are not charged until accepted.
Checkout stays on Shopify / UCP. Buyr handles the negotiable price.
After connect: ship a real deal
Setup is worthless if the agent still stamps list. Ask it to name a price on a product you want, unlock when it clears, and keep the offer with you.
What you get when a deal unlocks: brand-new authentic inventory from authorized merchants, free standard shipping, free returns within 30 days, and buyer protection if it does not arrive or does not match the description.

Questions about connecting shopping MCP
Can I use an admin token on /mcp/shopping?
No. Use role shopping_agent. Admin tokens get 403 on the shopping endpoint.
Will shopping MCP expose costs or margins?
No. Tools return shopper-safe JSON only. There is no cost, margin, or admin catalog tool on this server.
Who does the offer belong to?
The shopper. Pass email, session, or cart on create_offer so the deal is theirs.
Do I get charged when I create an offer?
Pending offers are not charged until accepted. Guaranteed prices unlock so you can check out at that number.
Connect once. Then unlock a deal on a product you actually want — not a rubber stamp of list price.
